Coming of the Sun
9 Replanting (June 21)
The Coming of the Sun occurs on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, and is naturally a festival in honor of Pelor. It bears a strong resemblance to Springfest as far as the festival goes, in that people mainly want to eat, drink, dance, and have as much fun out of doors as they can.
However, the Coming of the Sun usually has one major addition over the spring festival – over the course of the day, each member of the community must perform at least one act of kindness. This can be anything, from something as simple as complimenting someone’s outfit or buying someone a drink, to involved tasks such as helping plow a field or cooking a meal for a widow and her children. The only real requirement is that whatever you do must bring joy into the life of whoever you help; by doing so, you enrich the entire community and honor Pelor.
Most communities have different versions of this portion of the festival, such as visiting among the various houses during the night and bringing small guest-gifts to each house. More lawful areas often have schedules worked out months in advance, for people to sign up and volunteer their work for the coming holiday.
